We had the best Spring Break...EVER!! We went with our good friends, the Lybbert family, to Cancun, Mexico and we seriously had the time of our lives!! Sorry for the length...but I'm re-living this dream vacation as I post...this is the "Good Life"!!
We left our house at 4 a.m. only to get to the airport to find out our flight was delayed due to snow in Denver...which meant we missed our connecting flight to Cancun...AAGGHH! The good news is after running through the Denver and Houston airports to make other connections...we arrived in Cancun just in time to go to bed! :) It was a long day!
We stayed at the Gran Caribe Real...and it was AWESOME!
I think we would all agree that our favorite thing to do while we were in Mexico, was play at the beach! The water was gorgeous and warm...and the sand was soft and white! It was...by far...the best beach I've ever been to!! The waves were perfect for boogy boarding and the sand was perfect for building sand castles...so we spent a good portion of each day doing just that!

These two little girls had sand EVERYWHERE...if you know what I mean...ouch! :)

Emery and Mallory
Brielle and Lindsie
Caden and Troy
Jason and Rick
Me and Margo (drowned rats after boogie boarding)!
Margo wanted a picture with her hairy buddy, Dan!
I was taking a picture of the kids while Jason was in the water playing "JAWS"!
I think Brielle was thrown around in those waves one too many times! She also had sand EVERYWHERE!

I love this picture of my two little girls...just playing in the sand!

Jason and Rick were just "chillin"...a sight rarely seen!!

We met another family from Highland, Utah...and they were leaving...so they gave our kids a kite and some tubes to play with.

We took a few walks down the beach at night...so romantic...oh, wait...we had kids! :)

The beach had tons of beds, hammocks, and swings at the bar...the kids thought that was pretty cool!

This hotel we stayed at was an "all inclusive" so the food was all you can eat, whenever you want...which the kids liked...but, it wasn't the best food. By the end of our vacation...we'd figured out where the good food was and what we did and didn't like.
One of the first nights we were there, we decided to go out to eat because Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. was right across the street from out hotel...and we were craving a good meal. We had fun and enjoyed "good" food, but after receiving the bill...we decided not to do that again when all the food in our hotel was free! Duh!
This was one of the resturants in our Hotel called "Maria's" that we did like. They had a really good steaks!!
Another place that we loved...but didn't find out about until towards the end of our trip...was this Tepanyaki grill place that was pool side. It was yummy!!
But I think we would all agree that our most favorite things there...were the all-you-can-drink pina coladas and strawberry-banana daquaries and the ice-cream! We ate ice cream and drank those drinks multiple times daily and could not get enough!! The kids were patiently waiting for more "strawberry" ice-cream!! YUMMY!
Rick and Jason took Troy and Caden out on a Kayaking adventure...they had fun!
Jason and Rick also planned a "day adventure" for the families. They rented a 13 passenger van and we ventured out on what we called the "Cocoa-Ricky/Jason" tour. We went to see the ruins in Tulum, snorkel in Akamal, ordered lunch at a Mexican McDonalds (that was a challenge), and even pit stopped at a bathroom where they charged us 10 pesos for toilet paper! It was quite the adventure and we were so glad to be back to the hotel after Troy started "gassing" up in the van...he's just like his dad!!

Look how cute those dads are carrying matching bags!! :)

Margo and I are not big ruins fans...but we decided that Tulum was pretty cool...despite the heat! It really was HOT...but we kept reminding the kids that they could be at home in the snow! That usually quieted them right up! :)

Next stop... Akamal. This was a fun little snorkeling place. The kids were a little scared at first (ok...I admit...so was I) of all the fish, but they eventually thought it was pretty cool. Snorkeling is one of Jason's favorite things to do...we haul snorkeling equipment everywhere we go...so I was glad we found a great place!

The kid's pool, Oki Splash, was such a fun, cute place for the kids to play! They had this big pirate ship, water slides, and other fun things to help keep the kids very entertained.
The highlight for Brielle and Lindsie was swimming with the Dolphins! We decided that those were the 2 kids who would appreciate it most...and they did!
And the rest of us had fun watching...right girls?? :)
What an amazing trip we had...just to be together as a family and with our good friends, the Lybberts! We had such a great time! The last thing we did before leaving the Hotel...was go for one more bowl of ice-cream!!
We were sad to leave...but are looking forward to coming back...hopefully SOONER than later!!

Thanks for helping me relive that amazaing trip again. Just yesterday, Rick said he wants to go back. I love all your pics, especially the one of me and Dan. I'm so glad we get to remember our hairy friend. Too bad we didn't take a pic of Misty and all the others. hee hee hee Seriously, that was the best time ever. Thanks for all the fun memories.
Are you kidding??? LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures. My girls were looking at them with me and asked when they can go :) Thanks for sharing - glad you had such a great time!
